As a counselor, I pride myself in creating a warm and welcoming space for clients to open up and share what they are feeling.  Everyone needs a space to feel heard and supported as we gain confidence and learn tools to improve our mental health.  

I started my work in 2008 as a licensed school counselor working in multiple elementary schools.  School settings offered experience working with acute stressors as well as developing and coaching students and school staff in supporting children with Attention Deficit Disorder, Anxiety, and Autism, and a variety of behavioral and life challenges. 

I understand the importance of working across systems including: schools, families, peers, work, medical providers and community agencies.

The transition to an outpatient therapist role came in 2014.  Working in a community mental health setting for years provided ongoing training in healing trauma, art therapy, play therapy, and medical interventions.  I worked with a wide variety of clients and families to support mental health goals with creativity and compassion.

I often use a cognitive behavioral approach, which considers thoughts and feelings and the patterns that impact our emotional wellbeing.  I enjoy using and teaching mindfulness skills in sessions.  I work with each individual to consider goals for therapy and explore their hopes and intentions for healing.

I provide individual therapy with children age 4 and up, adolescents, and adults.  Often, I will incorporate some family therapy to build in more support.  I primarily work with family changes, anxiety, anger outbursts, ADHD, and support(s) with school.
